5-day BP Readings

5-day BP Readings

To get a 5-day blood pressure (BP) average, monitor your BP twice daily (morning and evening) for five consecutive days, taking at least two readings each time and recording the lowest systolic and diastolic number.

The systolic is the upper number in the BP reading, the diastolic is the lower number.

Sit calmly for at least five minutes before each measurement, ensure your feet are flat, your back is supported, and your arm is at heart level. Avoid caffeine, exercise, and tobacco for 30 minutes prior, and use the same arm for all readings.

After 5 days, add up all the recorded systolic numbers and divide by the total number of readings to find the average systolic BP, and do the same for the diastolic numbers to find the average diastolic BP.
