Ear Irrigation for Wax
If you feel that you may have wax in your ear, you can now self-refer to the Treatment Room at Central Health Centre by contacting the Main Reception desk in person or by phone.

There are certain situations where a nurse will not be able to assess you. These are listed below and you should arrange an appointment with your GP:
- in young persons under 16
- if there is a history of ear infection in the past 6 weeks
- if there is a history of perforation of the ear drum
- if there has been previous ear surgery
- if there is a cleft palate (repaired or not)
- if there is total deafness in one ear
Eye and Vision Problems
The Lanarkshire Eye-health Network Scheme (LENS)
Whatever your eye problem your first port of call should be your local Optican. An optometrist there is the best person to assess urgent eye problems, check for eye disorders and treat eye conditions. They have the professional training and necessary equipment to assess most eye problems.
Many optometrists are part of the Lanarkshire Eye-health Network Scheme (LENS).
The optometrists who are part of the LENS can offer an appointment and assessment service for any concerns you may have with the health of your eyes or eye injuries including:
- Red eye
- Sore eye
- Deterioration of eyesight
- Other disturbance of eyesight.

Physiotherapy
Do you have a muscle or joint problem?
Access to Physiotherapy is through a self-referral process.

Paediatric Physiotherapy
If you have a query about a musculoskeletal condition for a child between the ages of 5-13 years old, there is an Advice Line available.
This Advice Line is to seek advice from a Paediatric Physiotherapist on how to manage any general musculoskeletal condition such as a soft tissue injury, reduced general function of general aches and pains.

Podiatry
The Podiatry service treats patients with ongoing foot problems, as well as promoting self-care.
Services are available both in the community and at our three hospital sites. Ask for a self-referral podiatry form from our Reception or click here to download one.
